David Hegarty, Consultant Orthodontist

David has worked in the NHS and HSE as a consultant orthodontist from 1999 to date. He has served as chairman and secretary of the Irish Consultant Orthodontist group. His clinical work is wide ranging from routine aesthetic orthodontic treatments to growth anomalies, jaw surgery, and cleft lip and palate cases. He is a member of the cleft palate team at CUH.

David feels the most appropriate age for orthodontic treatment is age 11-14 years normally. Occasionally younger children with developmental challenges of the teeth are seen at a younger age. It is never too late to have orthodontic treatment so David offers invisible (lingual) orthodontic braces to adults- placed on the insides of the teeth.
